XAVIER MCGETTIGAN

Xavier is a Geelong-based performer, creative, and dance educator with a background in choreography. He has experience across the spectrum of performing arts, from musicals to straight plays to dance theatre.

Xavier is proud to be a long-time contributor to Geelong Lyric Theatre Society. He is currently serving as Director and Choreographer for Beauty and the Beast (2026), having previously taken on the same dual role for Wish Upon a Song Vol. II (2023). His connection with Lyric began over a decade ago with his first production team role as choreographer for Fiddler on the Roof (2011).

Beyond Lyric, Xavier has directed Clue and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency for Geelong Repertory Theatre Company—the latter earning him the Victorian Drama League Awards for Best Production of a Comedy and Best Director of a Comedy in 2022.

He has worked extensively as a choreographer in musical theatre for schools and theatre companies, with credits including A Chorus Line, Fame, Anastasia, Mamma Mia, and Chicago for Geelong Grammar School; Shrek the Musical and Theory of Relativity for St. Joseph’s College; Matilda the Musical for Sacred Heart College; Wicked for St. Ignatius; Fame and The Wedding Singer for Altona City Theatre; and Game On and Once Upon a Mattress for GSODA Junior Players.

Xavier is also the director of Attitude Dance Company, a local dance theatre group known for producing original works for theatre-going audiences. A recent highlight includes taking their show Perfect Pairing: A Wine Pairing Dancegustation to the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it played to sold-out audiences and received four- and five-star reviews.

A clarinettist, vocalist, and musical director, Xavier performs with the Geelong Concert Band and the Victorian Barbershop Regionals champion group Laneway City Singers. He has also served as musical director for Heathers: The Musical at Altona City Theatre and Gilligan’s Island: The Musical at Chapel Off Chapel.

As an actor, Xavier has performed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Angels in America, and A Few Good Men with Geelong Rep, as well as The Effect with Theatre of the Damned (TTT), and Saturday Night Fever with StageArt at Chapel Off Chapel. He also toured with a/lone as part of the Project Connect Ensemble, which featured at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and on the VCE Drama list.

Xavier is thrilled to continue collaborating with Geelong Lyric Theatre Society and supporting the region’s vibrant performing arts community.
