BE OUR GUEST. BECOME PART OF THE MAGIC.

For over 50 years, Geelong Lyric Theatre Society has been one of Victoria’s leading non-professional theatre companies, showcasing exceptional local talent through high-quality, affordable musical theatre.

Following the huge success of School of Rock and the near sell-out season of Mamma Mia!, we’re now inviting passionate performers to audition for our next spectacular production — Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

This beloved musical brings the enchantment of the classic story to life with dazzling costumes, breathtaking sets, and unforgettable songs like “Be Our Guest” and “Beauty and the Beast.” Whether you see yourself as Belle, the Beast, or one of the castle’s colourful characters, this show promises heart, humour, and magic for everyone involved.

Staged in the stunning 750-seat Play House Theatre at Geelong Arts Centre, this production offers an incredible opportunity to perform in one of the state’s premier venues.

💛 Auditions are now open. Don’t just watch the story — become part of it.

  • Adult Auditions:

You will be required to prepare an audition song and participate in one of the dance auditions.

Auditionees should bring one song to sing – in the musical theatre or Disney genre that demonstrates your character and/or storytelling ability.

You need to bring along with you sheet music for the audition pianist. If page turns are required, it is best to place the sheet music in a plastic sleeve folder or display book and it must be in the correct key.

Adults who are auditioning for any of the principal or supporting roles may be required to do a cold read during their vocal audition.

At the completion of both your movement/dance audition and vocal audition, you may be given sides (songs and scenes) to prepare for the call back session. Callback material/invitations may not be given until after all the vocal auditions have been completed, with a minimum of one week’s notice via email. If you are asked to attend a callback, be prepared to be at the venue from the scheduled times below as our casting process involves everyone in the room, together, workshopping variations of material so we can mix and match potential actors, see how you connect & communicate, and with us, and how you sound together in an open/transparent room.

Auditionees are encouraged to make every effort to be off book in the callbacks, but will not be penalized for using scripts, scores or notes if needed.

    Children’s Auditions (Chip):

Children are not required to prepare a song for auditions. We will be running a workshop style audition where all children will be taught a section of a song, a short dance routine and participate in some character acting exercises. They should dress in comfortable clothing appropriate for a workshop.
